About this area:
Skamania County is the southernmost county in Washington. Bisected north and south by the Cascade Mountain Range, the county is viewed as either eastern or western Washington. It is bounded by Lewis County to the north, Cowlitz and Clark counties to the west, and Yakima and Klickitat counties to the east. To its south is the Columbia River and Oregon State. The county is dominated by mountainous, rugged, and heavily forested terrain. Its central feature is the 8,365-foot Mount St. Helens, the most active volcano in the continental U.S.A.
